NEXANS IVORY COAST PANELIST AT ARCHIBAT 2023
Dec 28, 2023NEXANS IVORY COAST PANELIST AT ARCHIBAT 2023
From 12 to 16 December 2023, the 9th edition of the Architecture and Building Exhibition (ARCHIBAT) was held, organised by the Ivory Coast Order of Architects (OACI).
NEXANS COTE D'IVOIRE was honoured to take part in a panel discussion on the theme of "LOCAL BUILDING INDUSTRY AND EFFICIENT RESOURCE MANAGEMENT". Moderated by Ms Martine DACOURY-TABLEY (Architect) and Mr Idriss PORNAN from the Centre de Recherches Architecturales et Urbaines (CRAU), the main aim of this discussion, which featured a number of speakers, was to highlight the innovative strategies used by manufacturers to promote the efficient management of resources.
The construction industry plays a crucial role in the economic and social development of Côte d'Ivoire. It creates jobs, stimulates economic growth and helps to improve the country's infrastructure. However, the environmental impact of construction is a growing concern both globally and nationally.
The country is therefore experiencing rapid urbanisation and growing demand for housing, infrastructure and commercial buildings. A major issue is emerging: how can we manage our local resources efficiently?
NEXANS COTE D'IVOIRE, represented by Mr Franck TIOKO, Installer Sales Manager, showcased its expertise in Resource Management, highlighting its operations management model known as "E3". This model, initiated by our CEO Chris Guérin in 2022 and deployed at all our industrial sites, enables us to measure performance in order to optimise our operations on 3 dimensions - Economy, Environment and Commitment - and to remain the leader in solutions and services for the electrification of the future.
Starting from the fact that industry today represents 20% of the problem of global warming, and 80% of the solution. The E3 model has led us to ask ourselves the following questions:
- What is our share of responsibility in the unbridled quest for growth, whether organic or external?
- What is the carbon cost of the growth we are seeking; is it fossil growth or decarbonised growth?
We would like once again to thank the ARCHIBAT organising team and the OACI, headed by its President Mr Joseph AMON, for having invited NEXANS COTE D'IVOIRE to take part in this panel discussion and make its modest contribution to the issue of global warming, a hot topic of the moment.
