Nexans Meet Up Pro

On Friday 02 June 2023, the first edition of the Nexans Meet Up Pro was held on the theme: "Electrical safety of building installations and reliability of architectural electrical plans, key factors for development". Organised by Nexans Côte d'Ivoire, this professional meeting was moderated by Mr Joseph AMON, President of the Côte d'Ivoire Order of Architects, and Mr Etienne BLAMY, Head of Training and Standards Monitoring at LBTP (Laboratoire du Bâtiment et des Travaux Publics).

The session was opened by the traditional "Akwaba" pronounced by Mr. Nestor ANTEY, Managing Director of Nexans Côte d'Ivoire, followed by the intervention of Mr. Franck TIOKO, Sales Manager in charge of Installers, on the Presentation of Nexans Côte d'Ivoire and its solutions for the Ivorian and African market.

Mr Joseph AMON, the first panelist, introduced his speech with the importance of the electrical system in any construction. He went on to explain the role of the architect and the steps he should take when carrying out his duties on a construction project.

Our second speaker, Mr Etienne BLAMY, explained the role of the LBTP and the standards in force for the installation of electrical systems in order to guarantee the safety of people and property on any construction site.

We can see from these two speeches that compliance with the standards in force, the rules laid down for electrical installations and the use of reliable quality materials are essential for the completion of any construction project and, by extension, for the development of our nation.

As electricity is a factor in development, this meeting also marked the 10th anniversary of the Nexans Foundation. Created in 2013, the Foundation works to support the development of electrification in disadvantaged areas around the world, by funding local associations for various social actions. In Côte d'Ivoire, the Nexans Foundation has been working for nearly 5 years in partnership with the NGOs SHEKINA and AMISTAD respectively for the electrification of health centres and the empowerment of women who work as electricians in remote areas of the country. Each of the representatives of these organisations had the opportunity to talk about their partnership with the Nexans Foundation.

It was with a tone of commitment to the application of electrical safety rules in their work that our participants left happy to have taken part in this first edition of the Nexans Meet Up Pro, a meeting rich in expertise and experience sharing.
